Recovering |exchange server 2010 database
Hello all, My exchange server 2010 database fails to mount,when i try to run the eseutil /r option,it tells me the log file is corrupt.Pls can i have suggestions on how to mount my database,recover my user mailboxes.I am working on a production environment and it is pretty urgent

You can try deleting the log files (better, move them somewhere else) and then try mounting the store. You can use Mount-Database with the -AcceptDataLoss switch.Ed Crowley MVP "There are seldom good technological solutions to behavioral problems."

Agree with Ed. Just to add on it, if it fails to mount than move or delete .CHK file also and than try to mount it.Gulab | Skype: gulab.mallah

It depends on whether the db is in a clean shutdown state or not. Run an ESEUTIL /m against the the database. If it shows that the db is a clean shut down state, you can (re)move all the log files and .chk file from the log directory and mount the db. If the DB is not in a clean shutdown state, using eseutil /m, check for the parameter "log files required" and make a note of it. Using the eseutil /r command to try and recover the db. It should also tell you what log file is corrupt. If the corrupt log is not in the "required log files" range, you can delete all log files after and including that corrupt log file and the db should mount. Hi iheanacho, Just add tip, if the database is dirty shutdown, and you have not the backup for the database, we need to hard repair the database.
